About one month ago a friend and I opened up a surf school in Bahia Ballena, Costa Rica. While there are a lot of surf schools in Costa Rica, the central Pacific coast is much less frequented by tourists than the Northwestern part of the country. On one hand this may not bode well for business, but the reality is that by being somewhat off the tourist path there is room to explore and present guests with a truly unique experience.
Although tourist season is at the tail end for Costa Rica, the waves have been going off and the fall should be an excellent time for taking time off and surfing the warm waters of Central America. But December is not far away so we shall be preparing to make sure we provide our guests with the best possible surfing experience they’ve ever had. For December we’ll be offering surf lessons and a pair of surfing vacations.
In terms of surf lessons we are offering private lessons, group lessons, and a two-day surfing clinic. Our vacation packages consist of a surfing-focused six-night package with a minimum of seven surf lessons, and a surf and yoga package which is also a six-night package.
For our six-night packages, guests can choose between staying at an eco-lodge or a house rental. The house rentals are based on four person occupancy but they are a great deal for a family or group of friends. Anyways, check it out at www.bodhisurfschool.com
